Applying to the Internal Medicine Residency Program
Thank you for your interest in the Valley Health System - Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Internal Medicine Residency Program. The application process is conducted exclusively through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Click here to visit the ERAS site.
All interviews for the 2024-2025 interview season (residency starting July 2025) will be conducted virtually and held from October through January.
Our program will accept 12 residents per year.
Requirements
- We do not set minimum score requirements and we evaluate each application individually, however, passage of USMLE Steps 1 & 2 and/or COMLEX Levels 1 & 2 on the first attempt is preferred.
- The program’s cut-off date from graduation from medical school to application to residency is 3 years.
- A minimum of two letters of recommendation are required.
- At least one LOR from an internal medicine faculty member strongly suggested.
- A Department of Medicine Summary Letter of Evaluation is also suggested.
- U.S. experience required. (For international medical graduates, U.S. clinical experience working directly with patients is required.)
- We do NOT offer observerships or externships.
- Applications are accepted through ERAS only.
- You will be contacted if you are selected for an interview.
In accordance with Valley Health System’s employment requirements, our program requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination at the time of matriculation.
