PGY-1
Mikaela Bulman, MD
Jersey City, New Jersey
Medical School: Universidad Nacional del Nordeste Facultad de Medicina Argentina
Dr. Bulman and her husband moved to the United States in 2022 so that she could continue her medical career, after completing medical school and practicing in her home country of Argentina. Dr. Bulman has gained experience in multiple subspecialties within OB/GYN, and has been involved in maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) research.
She was attracted to Valley’s OB/GYN residency program because of its exposure to all OB/GYN subspecialties, guidance from leading specialists in the field, and a community education aspect alongside academic training. She’s excited to continue her journey of learning and discovery at Valley.
In the future, Dr. Bulman aspires to pursue a fellowship in MFM, continuing her interest in this area of OB/GYN.
During her free time, Dr. Bulman treasures moments spent with her family in Argentina and relishes the tranquility of nature. She also enjoys traveling and discovering new places, especially new pasta spots.
Mariely Garcia, MD
New York, New York
Medical School: Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
Dr. Garcia (she/ella) is excited for the opportunity to help shape the culture, curriculum, and structure of Valley’s residency program, and was inspired by the energy, passion, and kindness of every person she has met here.
Dr. Garcia’s professional goals include clinical medicine, healthcare leadership, and mentorship. At present, she is excited to learn and grow while she considers her future career options. Dr. Garcia is especially passionate about working to improve the health systems we are a part of, and she hopes to make that a big part of her career. Finally, as a queer Latina and as the first doctor in her family, making the medical profession accessible to people who have been traditionally underrepresented in medicine is a priority for Dr. Garcia. She hopes to do this through mentorship and community partnership.
In her spare time, Dr. Garcia enjoys arts and crafts, spending time in nature (particularly all things related to the water/ocean), eating, traveling, reality TV, and spending time with loved ones.
Makayla Lund, DO
Bronx, New York
New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine
Dr. Lund chose Valley for her residency because of the program’s positive and welcoming culture and the opportunity to build something special for both patients and her peers. Dr. Lund plans to work as an OB/GYN generalist and would eventually like to work for an organization where she can provide low-cost quality women’s health services for underserved populations in the tri-state area. With a passion for advocacy, she also hopes to continue her work in the diversity, equity, and inclusion space. Above all, Dr. Lund aims to create an environment for her patients where everyone feels welcome, listened to, and supported.
Originally from just outside Charlotte, N.C., Dr. Lund currently calls the Bronx home, where she lives with her fiancé and three cats (Gnocchi, Amaretto, and Cannoli). In her free time, she enjoys baking, Latin dancing, coffee, and informally fostering cats.
