“Along with a variety of multispecialty independent providers, the Center provides extensive educational training for the next generation of internal medicine physicians,” says Dawn Calamari-Brinkrode, DO, the Center’s Clinical Director. “These resident physicians work alongside seasoned primary care internal medicine providers, with the unique ability to provide extended time with patients, while personalizing treatment plans. This model allows for continuity of care while developing strong physician-patient relationships.”
The Center’s associates assist patients in signing up for Medicaid and other services. Patients who require lab work, X-rays, other diagnostic imaging studies, and rehabilitation therapy can easily access them at the same location.
“We embrace Dr. Wheaton’s focus on providing holistic, personalized care for patients throughout the spectrum of their lives and on improving the health of the community,” says Dawn E. Calamari-Brinkrode, D.O., Medical Director of the Family Care Center and Associate Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency at Valley. “For more than 42 years, Valley was Dr. Wheaton’s home as an internist, rheumatologist, medical education leader, and officer of the Medical Staff. We are proud to continue his devotion to educating future Valley physicians through the center’s graduate medical education program which has been developed in partnership with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.”
