The Valley Hospital is proud to have been recognized with an “A” grade for patient safety for the 21st time with the release of The Leapfrog Group‘s Fall 2023 Hospital Safety Grade. This national distinction celebrates Valley’s achievements in protecting hospital patients from preventable harm and errors.
“We are proud to have once again received an ‘A’ for patient safety,” said Audrey Meyers, President and CEO of Valley Health System. “This top grade is a result of Valley’s longstanding commitment to ensuring patient safety and providing high-quality care.”
Valley was one of the 24 hospitals in New Jersey, and part of the 30% of hospitals graded nationwide, to receive an “A,” ranking it among the safest hospitals in the United States.
The Hospital Safety Grade assigns letter grades – A, B, C, D, or F – to hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents, and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent patient harm.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections, and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.
“Earning an ‘A’ Grade means The Valley Hospital made a true commitment to put patients first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff, and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”
